Schools participating in the awards competition submit
their ‘end of the project portfolio’ to the National Eco-Schools
coordination annually for assessment and awards on competition
of Eco-Schools and procedures.
Successful schools are awarded the Eco-Schools Green
Flag as a symbol of Certification. Additionally, top schools
in every province are awarded with investment in their
micro projects, which take the form of dairy cows, a flock
of poultry, or any other as per context suitability. Trophies
will also be awarded for excellence in each of the five
key components of the Eco-Schools Programme.
The Award Ceremony
The ceremony is held every year in June during World
Environment Day Celebrations
